Australian Immigration Intake – How to Apply

The Australian government has been adhering to the annual 190,000 immigration limit for the past 7 years. According to the SBS news, David Coleman, the minister for immigration mentioned that the authorities are yet to reach a conclusion regarding the number of immigrants for the coming year.

The Australian immigration department often meets the labor limit each year. The high immigration level has contributed immensely to the country’s economy.

Things took another turn in 2017/2018 as the department received 163,000 permanent immigrants which are the lowest number so far. These statistics include those who applied for the family and skilled visas.

Peter Dutton who is the Immigration Minister and Home Affairs Minister is ready to reduce immigration intake to around 160,000 people per year. This means that the statistics will be similar to that of the previous year if his plan is finally actualized.

The Australian immigration process will undergo several changes before 2019 runs to an end. For instance, there is an increase in the fee for nearly all the visa types. The immigration cap for next year won’t be finalized until a standard consultation is held with the important stakeholders.

The minister stressed that an agreement will be reached without wasting time. The needs of each region will be considered. This will be in line with the Morrison government immigration plan to send more skilled employees to the rural areas.

It should be noted that the cap for the immigration intake is for those who apply for Australian permanent residency under the family and skilled visa categories.

This is still the best time to apply for the Australian Permanent Residency if you’re planning to migrate to the country. There is a high chance that your application will be approved as the number of immigrants is yet to reach 160,000.
