Express Entry is one of the various ways by which an individual can obtain Permanent Residence in Canada, and for the process to be complete, you need to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA), which is a formal document from the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) assigned to Express Entry candidates. After obtaining this paperwork, you only need to get the required documents ready and submit an application for Canadian permanent residence, and you can well be on your way to Canada with family members, your spouse or dependents, as you so please, in six months or less.

The following can be done to improve your chances of getting an ITA:
- Obtain more academic certifications
- Get additional work experience relevant to your industry
- Prepare your documents in readiness for acceptance into the Express Entry program
- Enhance your language skills
- Obtain a valid job offer in a Canadian firm
- Reach out to Canadian provinces for consideration for their individual Provincial Nominee Programs
Credential Requirements for Getting an ITA
The points listed in the above section are only needed to improve your prospects of getting an ITA, but the following are mandatory before you can get the invitation to apply: a valid job offer from a Canadian company, nomination from a province or territory, and an express entry account ranked highly in the pool.
Once you have these requirements and you’ve submitted your profile for the Express Entry program, it is up to the IRCC to announce its monthly ITA quota and the minimum number of points required for a profile to get an ITA in the one-year period. If your account satisfies these conditions, you will be issued an ITA.
If you do not get an ITA, however, within the one-year validity period of your Express Entry profile, you can simply withdraw your application and resubmit it the next year. A successful Canada Permanent Residence application usually results in a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and Permanent Residence Visa being issued to the applicant.
